Ifyou don't have an MSA license yet, you gonna need to get one. I think it is R150 ... that excludes race entry. Which, if memory serves correct, is R80.

You need to go to killarney during the weekdays to get a MSA license. However, you first need to go to the WPMC offices to get a letter stating that you are a Restricted WPMC member. All racers need to be part of a MSA affiliated club to get a MSA license.

vwvirus .. will have to answer the 2nd part of your question 8)

I'm waiting on Killarney for final confirmations on cost and I should have that by Friday afternoon. So check back then.

I need to get confirmed driver details by Friday...I know that sucks and is short notice but I need to plan other stuff...

Thanks gents

me racing is dependent on whether we get the car done by then.... so tentative for me...

STREET 2 STRIP Streetcar Drags: Killarney Fri 29th Aug 08

Killarney will be opening their doors to the local streetcar streetracers on Friday evening from 6pm till 10.30pm. The idea is to provide the facility at a nominal fee to streetracers who are racing in and around Cape Town. As there will be no formal competition and this is aimed purely at the Streetracers, no competition license will be required however indemnities will have to be completed. The timing lights will be in place however there will be no results posted nor prizes awarded at the end of the evening.

(This means if you are under 21 you will have to get the indemnity filled out by your parents or bring them to the track..)

Vehicles will be subject to a safety check so make sure you have all your wheel bolts in, battery must be fastened down properly and everything must be in general good working order. Required safety gear is everyone must wear long pants, top, closed shoes and adequate crash helmet. Crash helmets are available for hire from Dominic Tel: 0834773460 / dominic.williams@gobroadband.co.za

This event is aimed specifically at the streetcar streetracers so with that in mind there will be no motorcycles on the evening, no interruptions from the Club drag competitors, just a queue of streetcars wanting to take one another on down the strip. As we are planning to have many more of these types of events at summer approaches and we are aware of noise pollution laws we will not allow any vehicle even moderately too loud after 9pm. This includes some drifting practice at the oval from 6pm till 9pm. So if you have an aftermarket exhaust, don’t worry unless it is very noisy. Straight through exhaust will have a problem so please do be aware of the situation.

Please note that this is the first time we are trying this type of event, so please support it to ensure more events of this easy nature where the streetracers of the Cape can have a safe facility to attend without the hassle of the cops trying to hunt you down all night long..

What to know:

Entry fee is R20 per person over the age of 12.

WPMC Club members free of charge, R20 per person with them over the age of 12.

To race is free of charge provided you complete the necessary paperwork and pass the safety check, clothing, helmet etc

Well done!!!!
Excellent event guys,
im sure it would have had a better turn out if the weather wasn't so dodgy,
hope that there are many more of these to come,
this could be the answer to getting the street racers off the streets and on the track...
Street to strip definately got my attention
