My MkV GTi DSG GT2860RS

Postby Chipmunk on Wed Mar 28, 2012 1:58 pm

Hi guys and girls, on my K03 setup the most power I ever made was 204 kW, mods are : Software, 76mm Evolution Downpipe, Devils Own WMI, Forge DV,BSH PCV Fix. I then broke the engine  and decided that its a good time for a turbo upgrade aswell, wanted to go K04 but it so common these days  went a little bit bigger with a Garrett GT2860RS turbo as I still drive my car everyday.

Here is the list of parts for the repair and turbo upgrade :
Pistons
Intergrated Engineering Conrods
ARP Conrod Bolts
Rings
Bigends
Mains
Valve stem seals
Bush
Sleaves
Garrett GT2860RS Turbo + Manifold
Injectors
DV Relocate Kit
Custom 76mm Cold Air Intake
GIAC ECU Software
GIAC DSG Software
GIAC Handheld controler
76mm Exhaust
S3 Intercooler
Carbon Fibre DSG Paddle Shifters
Autogauge Boost guage with pod
V-Maxx Coilovers
19" BBS wheels
CREE Number Plate Lamps
LED Interior Globes
LED Park Globes

We estimate around 270 kW.
Build started on Monday 19 March 2012, completion date hopefully 14 May 2012.

@ Playa, yes bud im doing the DSG Software, reason being increased rev limit and launch rpm whilst using the DSG Launch Control and yes the torque limit will be increased.

Im still deciding on which dsg software brand to go for but just want to test drive a car with the dsg software before the weekend is over.

I have decided on which brand for the ECU software but im gonna keep that quiet till car is finally done

well there are the big 5 -

CPI
FRC
REVO
GIAC
STO

then there is

E tuners
UNITRONIC

but i do agree with you - software is like tech, you have to change up now and again :thumright:

Ive had CPi, FRC, STO & ATM on my car, I dont know if theres any Agents in Cape Town for E-Tuners ?
But I kinda like the handheld units that STO, GIAC and Revo has. But to be honest the GIAC unit I love, for the Stock, pump and race modes

Who's software were you most pleased with?? :)

I've sat in FRC/CPI cars and the power delivery is very smooth whereas with STO it's like it comes at you all in one go and leaves you just as quickly as you got it....

@ Popo, I dont think its a good idea for me to answer that question.
What I can tell you is that with STO max power came in late round 6200 rpm, with FRC / ATM / CPI, max power was made at 5500 rpm.

BTW, I went to check today progress on the car and I saw a dyno graph of a GTi that has the same GT28RS turbo and it made 274 kW and it wasnt even properly tuned
