MSA Licence updated information: GREAT NEWS for Drag racing…

At a MSA Drag commission meeting held in Jhb last week it was agreed that social licences could be used to help introduce new competitors to the sport of drag racing. These licence holders can not participate in any of the competitions / championships and this is done to get new drivers on the track on Drag days. No awards can be given to these drivers at the prize giving. The cost of this social licence is only R150. This licence can only be issued to someone who has NEVER held an MSA Drag racing licence in the past.

We will allocate some time slots in the day for when these drivers can do their runs against one another.

Please note the following procedures you need to do in order to get a MSA licence.

You need to be a member of an MSA affiliated club – For this you can join the WPMC temporary membership for street drags (no cost) while the WPMC Club drag competitors need compulsory WPMC membership.
Take you proof of membership to the MSA office (located at Killarney), fill in the MSA licence application form (3 pages). The licence fee is R300.
MSA Medical insurance is available at a cost of R265 or written proof of personal cover for high risk sports from your relevant medical insurance company needs to be produced. Street Drags highly recommended.
MSA will then issue you with your 2010 licence card valid until the end of the year – 31st December 2010. This licence will be valid for all MSA drag racing / Streetracing events at Killarney including Gymkhana events.
The first event after you licence has been issued will be free of charge – on producing the card.
Please note that it is best to come to Killarney to get your licence well in advance and between the hours of 9am till 1pm week days. You can contact MSA Cape Town branch on 021 556-1026 for further licence related queries. For Club drags / Streetracing related queries please contact Paul at the WPMC office on 021 557-1639.

Yours in racing
